Greenport: Sustainability as a guiding principle
Greenport Wismar seaport: Sustainability as a guiding principle
Taking responsibility, shaping the future.
At the seaport of Wismar, we see sustainability not just as a buzzword, but as the guiding principle of our actions. We are aware of our responsibility for the environment and society and are actively committed to the sustainable development of the port and the region. As a green port, we invest in innovative technologies, renewable energies and environmentally friendly processes in order to minimize our ecological footprint and at the same time offer our customers efficient and future-proof logistics solutions.

Our sustainability strategy:
On course for a climate-neutral port
Reduction of emissions
We have set ourselves ambitious targets for reducing our greenhouse gas emissions and are continuously working on optimizing our processes and technologies.
Use of renewable energies
We invest in the expansion of renewable energies in order to meet our energy needs sustainably and reduce our dependence on fossil fuels. Conservation of resources: We are committed to the economical and efficient use of resources such as water and energy.
Protection of biodiversity
We take the protection of biodiversity into account in our planning and measures and thus contribute to the preservation of natural habitats.
Sustainable value chain
Together with our customers from the steel industry, we optimize the entire logistics chain for scrap imports in order to shorten transport routes, make handling processes more efficient and thus sustainably reduce the carbon footprint of steel production.
Social responsibility
We are committed to corporate social responsibility and promoting the well-being of our employees and the surrounding communities.

Sustainably into the future:
Core elements of our Green Port strategy
Our sustainability strategy is based on six central pillars: We set ourselves ambitious targets for reducing emissions and continuously optimize our processes. By expanding renewable energies, we cover our energy requirements sustainably and reduce our dependence on fossil fuels. We conserve resources by using water and energy sparingly. We take the protection of biodiversity into account in all our planning. As a fifth pillar, we work with our steel customers to optimize the logistics chain for scrap imports, shorten transport routes and make handling processes more efficient in order to reduce the carbon footprint of steel production. Finally, we promote the well-being of our employees and the region through social responsibility.
